The University of Northern Colorado Bears hosted the Weber State Wildcats looking to get their first win of the season. Despite their loss, football fans were still hopeful after the game.
Some Northern Colorado alumni were impressed by the spirit and turnout.
"There was a lot more people than I thought would show," said Allison Beecher, a 2007 business marketing graduate. "It was a fun homecoming. My friends and I had a really good time."
Because of the success of this year's events, the University Program Council looks to make no big changes for next year's events.
"We want to keep the same ideas and events that students love," said Kelly Vasta of the UPC. "We want to just improve upon what we have from this year."
Monday kicked off homecoming week with the banner contest and a barbecue outside of the University Center.
Various events kept students busy last week, including the Lip Sync, UNC Idol and the play, "Crumbs from the Table of Joy."
Homecoming week also included the conclusion of the Cans to Candelaria food drive, with collection and weighing just short of this year's goal.
Cans to Candelaria may not have met its goal, but they were closer than UNC was to breaking the world record for largest pillow fight on Thursday.
Friday night capped off the 2007 homecoming week with the annual bonfire, pep rally and fireworks, complete with live music, a student speaker and the burning of the Weber State Mascot. Students also enjoyed hot chocolate, apple cider and cotton candy.
Scott Develder, a UNC alumnus, also said this year's homecoming exceeded his expectations.
"Invigorating, tantalizing and beautiful," Develder said of homecoming weekend.
