With the win against in-state rival Colorado State University, the University of Northern Colorado men's basketball team will look to continue the momentum of a three-game win streak.

To do this, however, coach Tad Boyle said the team will have to focus on two areas.

"I think we gotta keep playing with energy and effort," Boyle said. "I think that was a big difference between the CSU game and the Johnson and Wales game."

The Bowling Green State Falcons (4-3), from the MAC Conference, head to Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion on Thursday for the Bears' (4-2) last game before a nine-day layoff for finals. The Falcons biggest win this season might be against Cincinnati on Nov. 11 by a score of 69-67.

Junior forward Jabril Banks, who had 17 points and nine rebounds in Saturday's game, said after the win against CSU, the team cannot get complacent.

"We just need to keep going for it and just know what was in the past and what's in the future," Banks said.

Yet, according to sophomore guard Will Figures, the win still served a purpose - one that gave them confidence to continue to take on tough opponents.

"We worked our hardest to try to get that win (over CSU) and after getting that, we realized we could compete at this level and compete against anyone in this state - anyone out of state," Figures said. "So that was a huge turning point for us."

The Bears come into the game looking to remain undefeated at home. Heading into the game, Banks is averaging a team-high 12.8 points per game and six rebounds per game.

Junior guard Robert Palacios is second on the team in rebounds, averaging 5.8 per game, while senior guard Sean Taibi is averaging a second-best 12 points per game.

Yet, according to Banks, one other aspect of the game - the atmosphere created by the home crowd against CSU - is something he hopes will continue.

"It was tremendous atmosphere for our team and for everybody that enjoys basketball and hopefully we can have a lot more attendance like that," Banks said.

The Bears begin play against Bowling Green State at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday at Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion.
