It was a disappointing 60-50 loss for the Bears, whose Big Sky Conference record fell to 5-4.
UNC came out strong, scoring 23 points before halftime, but trailed Weber State for most of the first half.
The Bears came back in the second half with energy and put up points to take the lead against the Wildcats. However, turnovers and pressure from Weber State helped them regain the lead.
One of the Bears' weak spots in the game was committing turnovers, with 16 in the first half compared to the Wildcats' eight. The Bears continued to turn the ball over in the second half and finished with a total of 26 turnovers at the end of the game.
The Bears also couldn't handle the pressure the Wildcats continued to put on them.
"The pressure hurt us, and is something that we will have to correct or we're in trouble," UNC coach Jaime White said.
The Bears continued to battle for the ball and keep up with the Wildcats.
"We didn't give up and kept fighting," junior guard Jamie Schroeder said.
Schroeder had a high scoring night with 20 points.
The Bears defense was solid along the perimeter and prevented the Wildcats from scoring any 3-pointers.
"We defended the 3-point line really well," White said.
The Bears, however, were held to only one 3-pointer.
It was unusual to see so many traveling calls throughout the game, but officiating was consistent, according to at least one Bears player.
"It was equal on both sides for the most part," said freshman guard Paige Ricker in regard to the officiating of the game.
UNC is looking to bounce back and earn their first win against Idaho State on Saturday in their second meeting. To prepare for the Bengals, whose offense is similar to the Wildcats, the Bears will have to refine their game plan against defensive pressure.
Schroeder said the Bears will bounce back and not carry this game over.
