Chairman of Faculty Senate Francie Murry visited the Student Representative Council meeting Wednesday to discuss the plus-minus policy.

SRC has been fighting to keep the policy from passing since it has been mentioned. Murry's visit was focused on the lack of student representation at the faculty meetings and to assure SRC that Faculty Senate has been going about the process properly.

Mason Smith, student trustee for SRC, said that the council and students were not questioning the Senate's procedures, but that the student body does not want the policy to pass at all.

Murry said that at this moment, the plus-minus policy is in print for the new catalog, but not published. Therefore, SRC still has a chance to stop the policy from happening, but they will have to work quickly.

To ensure SRC that the Senate followed procedures, Murray gave a brief timeline of the policy.

According to SRC's resolution, Faculty Senate approved the plus-minus policy in April of 2007. It was actually passed in October of 2005. UNC President Kay Norton approved the policy in November 2005.

To extend the implementation of the policy to the fall of 2007, the Faculty Senate signed and passed a resolution for the president to sign in November 2007.

Faculty Senate and the president approved to extend the implementation once more in April 2007 so that the issues about the policy could be investigated.
