2008 Woodie Awards
The winter holidays have inspired countless films, some great, others horrendous. The Mirror's film critics pick their favorite and least favorite yuletide offerings, respectively. Favorites/Karissa: "Love Actually" - Multiple love stories are encompassed with stars Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman and Laura Linney.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Eagles of Centennial Elementary School filled the University Center Fireside Lounge with holiday music. All the children were presented in well-dressed clothes. They sang about peace, the winter weather and the holiday sounds of jingle bells.
You know it's the holiday season when Christmas gear fills the shelves at local stores. It's an overwhelming feeling. Other than seeing your credit card bill skyrocket, it's a good feeling when you give gifts to friends and family. But what I love the most about the holidays are the traditions.
What began as two students from Indiana has exploded to a club with more than 100 members - the Northern Colorado Riders club, a club for skiers and snowboarders. Junior business major Nate Giska and junior journalism major Stephanie Osborn came to Colorado for the snow in 2006.
Michener Library will be displaying works of art. The library's Mari Michener art gallery is the showcase for the art exhibit "Watercolor Divas!" through Dec. 19. Sponsored by Friends of the UNC Libraries, it has provided area female artists the chance to show their realist watercolor paintings since Nov.
