Homecoming is here again, and this year’s theme is Kruzin’ with Klawz. Activities for Homecoming Week will begin with a nationally televised soccer game at 3 p.m. Sunday at Jackson Field and end with the Annual Homecoming Formal from 9 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, Oct. 10 at the University Center Panorama Room.

“This year’s homecoming will be Bear-tastic,” said Jamie Lloyd, a senior theater education major and president of the Residence Hall Association. “For us at RHA this year, we worked on prepping for the bonfire and coordinating our efforts with University Program Council.”

Eileen Kroll, a sophomore pre-nursing major, said homecoming is a good way for people to meet new friends through events that are organized throughout campus.

“I’m a little biased,” Lloyd said. “I love homecoming lobby decorating in the Residence Halls. It is great toResidence Halls. It is great to see students from an entire building participate in crazy-themed parties for a night, and it really adds to the week’s excitement. Aside from that, I really like the parade.”

Lloyd said students living on campus should talk to their resident assistants if they are interested in helping out. The week will consist of various activities and features, such as a lip-syncing contest called “Bear Sync,” the parade and a bonfire.

“We all should come out and show some Bear pride,” Lloyd said. “Students should expect cold weather. Typically, Homecoming Week is colder than other weeks in the fall. Be ready for a lot of fun events, UNC alumni around campus and a renewed sense of spirit around campus.”

For more information on all the activities that have been lined up for homecoming by the different departments on campus, students and faculty should download the homecoming packet on the University of Northern Colorado Web site. The homecoming 2009 packet includes an extensive list of activities and competition guidelines.

“I’ve never been to homecoming at UNC before, since this is my first year here at UNC as a transfer student,” said Krista Schovel, a junior elementary education major. “So, I am excited to find out what sort of activities there will be. I am excited to attend the Homecoming Formal with my housemates this year.”
