On Wednesday, students swarmed the University Center to witness a MED-EVAC helicopter land in the parking lot to kick off UNC’s annual Health and Safety Fair.

The festival was hosted to provide information about the available resources regarding student safety and well-being.

Deana Davies, the coordinator for the Assault Survivors Advocacy Program, said she was pleased this festival was taking place.

“I really want students to know that there are always places that can truly provide help and give resources,” Davies said. “I’m glad this festival is helping to encourage this.”

The Northern Colorado Medical Unit was also present to answer questions and provide information beneficial to both students and the Greeley community.

Chip Brownlee, a flight crew paramedic for the Northern Colorado Medical Unit, said he enjoys being a part of the event.

“People always get excited to see the helicopter land here,” Brownlee said. “It usually reels in quite a crowd.”

The University of Northern Colorado Police Department also  hosted its annual bike auction. The bikes that were auctioned were either abandoned or impounded during the 2008 school year.

Sgt. Chris Krause of the UNCPD was in attendance in his street apparel to help out with the auction. The police department had 60 bikes, which averaged about $15 per item.
