When a team plays host in its own gym, the goal is to put on a dominating performance for the home crowd.

And that's exactly what the UNC women's basketball team did Thursday night against Northern Arizona.

The Bears were unrelenting hosts as they easily put away the Lumberjacks 69-54 in front of 989 fans at Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion.

The University of Northern Colorado had at least a 10-point lead for the entire game, with senior forward Lauren Oosdyke the point-leader for the Bears with 24 of UNC's 69 points. Junior forward Molly Duehn also played a solid game, scoring 11 points of her own.

"I thought (Thursday) was one of my better games offensively," Oosdyke said. "We played well as a whole too. We looked for the pass and got those shots off after that."

There is a little more than a month left in the season and for seniors such as Oosdyke, the skills and leadership developed throughout the years are reflected in conference play.

"I thought Lauren's first half was one of the best of her career," UNC head coach Jaime White said. "She really put the team on her shoulders, and she played equally well defensively."

The only time the Bears seemed in danger of losing their momentum came in the second half, when Northern Arizona managed a run of seven unanswered points in under a minute, closing the gap to 12 points.

"There were a couple of times when it got a little scary there," Coach White admitted.  "But I think it's good for our kids to play under those conditions."

Approaching the middle of the season, home games are important for Northern Colorado. Winning on the road is no easy feat, and home games need to be taken advantage of.

"I love playing at home," Duehn said.  "I love when the crowd get rowdy. Coach White always says to take advantage of home games.  The goal is to win at home and split on the road."

UNC will have another home game at 2:35 p.m. Saturday against Sacramento State.
