UNC baseball team loses conference tournament

Houston Baptist goes undefeted in tournament play to win Great West Conference tournament

UNC’s baseball season came to an end Saturday afternoon as it fell 13-3 to Houston Baptist in the Great West Conference tournament championship series in Newark, NJ. The University of Northern Colorado would have had to win two games against HBU Saturday but the first game started off on the wrong foot. The Bears were undoubtedly pleased to have junior Chris Hammer back on the mound for Saturday’s game as Hammer had been the staff ace all year with an ERA of 2.65. But the Huskies jumped all over Hammer early, scoring seven runs on him in just 2/3 of an inning. Full story

Northern Colorado men's golf finishes fifth at conference tournament

UNC’s men’s golf team finished fifth in the American Sky Conference championship tournament, which concluded Wednesday. The University of Northern Colorado shot a 16-over-par 880 over the course of the three-day tournament.

The women’s tennis team saw its season come to an end on Friday as UNC fell 4-1 to Southern Utah in the first round of the Big Sky Championship tournament at the Gold River Racquet Club in Sacramento, Calif.

UNC Athletics hosted its annual awards banquet Wednesday night and used the occasion to recognize exceptional athletes from the 2012-13 academic year. In addition to the most outstanding female and male athletes, the top graduating seniors, newcomers and breakthrough athletes were identified, among others.

UNC’s women’s golf team finished third at the Big Sky Conference Championship tournament as the competition wrapped up Tuesday. The University of  Northern Colorado ended play with a score of 901 (+37) over the course of the three-day tournament at Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Ariz.

University of Northern Colorado football coach optimistic about future after team's spring game

Spring football games are glorified scrimmages used for evaluating talent, engaging boosters and knocking off rust. UNC’s football team looked plenty rusty early in its spring game before finding some rhythm in the second half of a 21-13 win for the Blue team.

White led 13-7 late in the fourth quarter with the ball deep in its own territory when Blue junior safety Mason Walters blocked a punt from senior Dave Eden. Freshman Tyler Bloyer scooped up the ball and ran it into the endzone, tying up the game. Without changing his jersey, Eden kicked the extra point to give Blue the lead.
