Last time out, the University of Northern Colorado women’s soccer team lost a heartbreaker to Texas Christian University on a goal in the game’s final minutes.

After their 1-0 win over New Hampshire on Friday at Jackson Field, the Bears learned it’s a lot more fun on the winning side of a game.

This one came in the 92nd minute, when senior forward Brooke Braden found the back of the net off a cross from junior midfielder Maddie Roberts.

The goal – Braden’s third on the season – tied her with junior midfielder Mariel Gutierrez for the team lead.

“After the first 90 minutes, we got off the field and we said that we had high energy and we needed to keep it up,” Braden said. “We needed to come out right away and get a goal.”

The win moves the bears to 4-1 on the season ahead of a matchup at noon Sunday against New Mexico State.

The Bears open up conference play on Sept. 22 when they host Weber State.
