Spring Fun on Gunter Green: Student Government Association Event Offers Food, Art and Games

Bloom-with-the-Bears

UNC’s Student Government Association will be hosting a farmers' market-style event on March 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Gunter Green.

The event titled "Bloom with the Bears" aims to provide students with a way to relax and spend time with their friends after spring break.

“I hope this event helps students connect with community on campus and also is just a nice way to break up some of the mid-semester stress,” said Anwei Forgues, chief of staff of the SGA.

The event will feature art from UNC students and local artists, outdoor yard games and a designated space for Bear Pantry food donations. Free tote bags, flowers, popcorn, cotton candy and snowcones will also be offered for a limited time as supplies last.

The SGA has worked to garner support from as many local businesses as possible to further enrich the event. The Resource Center for Pregnancy and STD Support, BandWagon Magazine, Oak and Maple Waffles and Patrick’s Irish Pub are just a few of the businesses that will be showing up to sell items and talk to students.

“The goal of this event, for me, is to bring Greeley to campus because Greeley has a lot to offer,” said Michael Kirkpatrick, senior senator of the SGA. “I also want to utilize Gunter Green on Central Campus, and I feel like both Greeley and Gunter Green often get overlooked by UNC students.”

Some of UNC’s fraternities and sororities will also be present for interested students to get connected with Greek Life.
