Gas prices have been on a steady rise over the past few months due to the Middle East war. As a result, students have had to budget more to make their money count during this time. Additionally, they are also extremely frustrated with the current administration and do not see a quick solution to this growing problem.

The shift in AI-usage at the University of Northern Colorado is threatening the overall student body. People who use ChatGPT and other AI don't think about the assignment they work on, and have shallow processing. This is even plaguing the theater arts, as generative AI has been used in several of their main stage plays.

UNC Brewing Science Program Goes Down the Drain

The University of Northern Colorado has canceled its Brewing Laboratory Science program as part of 50 total staff layoffs implemented due to a projected $14 million budget shortfall, causing dismay among enrolled students. Sean Johnson, the program manager for eight years, who helped forge local commercial partnerships, has been laid off with his remaining classes moving online. Students praised the program's practical science and networking opportunities. Affected students expressed frustration over the lack of transparency, the university's prioritization of larger programs, and the sudden loss of learning opportunities and mentorship. UNC's Chemistry department stated the decision was part of university-wide budget cuts and is focused on supporting affected students.
