The University of Northern Colorado represents diversity, culture, and Hispanics. Last March, UNC became a Hispanic-serving institution. From Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, the Hispanic and Latin communities are celebrated nationwide.

The Cesar Chavez Cultural Center is celebrating the month with a Latin Heritage Celebration at 12 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13 at the César Chávez Cultural Center.

“We just became a Hispanic serving institution, so it’s a really big deal… celebrating it with other communities and finding that sense of belonging on campus,” said Samantha Lopez Matamoros, a student at UNC.

Las Catrinas Food Truck will be catering at the event. Folkloric dances, live DJs, and live performances are in store during the celebration.

Students interested in attending the event must register using the link on the Cesar Chavez Cultural Center's Instagram page.

“It’s an event filled with food, fun, and just music and a community… Bienvenidos todos,” Lopez Matamoros said.
